Agent Orange

More than 30 years after the end of the Vietnam War, parts of the country are still contaminated with “Agent Orange”. The number of miscarriages, malformations among children and cases of uterine cancer is very high, especially in the demilitarised zone along the 17 degree latitude and in the Mekong Delta. The Hanoi Peace Village, one of the country’s largest treatment centres for children suffering from Agent Orange disorders, estimates that there are at least one million affected people in the area. To date, the US has not offered any form of compensation to Vietnam, although payments have been made to American soldiers affected by the toxin.
